How Prop Firm Loss Limits Work
A $100,000 account with a 5% daily loss and a 10% maximum loss, the most common structure.
- Daily loss
- A floor set at the start of each day and reset every day. Most firms measure it on equity, so floating losses count.
- Maximum loss
- A floor for the life of the account. A static floor stays at the starting level; a trailing floor rises with profit.
- Balance or equity
- Some firms take the day's starting balance, others the higher of balance or equity. A profitable open position can raise the next day's floor.

How Arka Terminal Supports the Rules
Four tools in the terminal map directly to the limits every prop firm sets.
Daily loss
Every Trade Sized From Risk
The full order window opens with 1% of the balance at risk. At a 5% daily limit, that is five full losses before the floor.
- Risk-based sizing
- The stop is set at the recent average true range, the target at twice that distance, and the volume follows from 1% of the balance at risk.
- Pre-trade Check
- Before submission, the check states the loss at the stop in money and as a share of equity, and flags any trade above 1%.
Maximum loss
Aggregate Exposure in One View
Several positions on one symbol can be managed as one, with the total shown before any change is made.
- Group stop line
- One line sets the stop or target for every position on a symbol and shows what they add up to at that price.
- Close by kind
- Close buys, sells, winners, losers or all positions, with the floating P&L and share of the balance shown first.
- Net exposure
- The positions panel nets exposure by symbol across the account.
News rules
Releases Flagged Well Ahead
Most firms restrict trading for 2 to 5 minutes around high-impact news on funded accounts. The terminal flags major releases 15 minutes ahead.
- Release alerts
- A notice 15 minutes before a release rated four stars or above on a symbol with open positions, and again once it is out.
- Releases on the chart
- Releases rated three stars and above sit on the time axis with previous, forecast and actual figures.
- AI previews
- Releases rated four stars and above carry an AI preview before and an AI reading after.
Consistency
Profit Distribution by Day and Week
Best-day and consistency rules depend on how profit is spread. Trading Profile and Daily Review measure it from the account itself.
- Daily P&L
- Daily Review shows net P&L for each of the last seven days, with the day's best and worst trade.
- Weekly rhythm
- Trading Profile shows net P&L for each of the past eight weeks, by session and by symbol.
- Risk flags
- A single loss of three times the average loss, or four consecutive losses, is flagged.
Arka Terminal does not read a firm's limits or close positions on the trader's behalf. These tools make risk visible before and during each trade; compliance with each firm's rules remains the trader's responsibility.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a prop firm?
A proprietary trading firm sells evaluations. Traders who reach its profit targets within its loss limits receive a funded account and a share of the profits.
What is a funded account?
An account provided by a prop firm after a passed evaluation. The trader keeps a share of the profits and must stay within the firm's loss limits and conduct rules.
What is the difference between daily loss and maximum loss?
The daily loss limit resets every day from that day's starting value. The maximum loss limit applies for the life of the account, either at a fixed level or trailing the account's high.
Which prop firms offer MT5?
FTMO, FundedNext and Funding Pips all offer MT5 outside the United States. FTMO and FundedNext also offer MT4.
Does Arka Terminal enforce prop firm rules?
No. It does not read a firm's limits or close positions on the trader's behalf. It shows the risk of each trade and of the whole account, and flags major releases in advance.
